Blythswood Square now open
12.11.09
Blythswood Square, Glasgow’s new five-star hotel, has opened. Historically home to the Royal Scottish Automobile Club (RSAC) it was a popular business venue for decades and in 1955 was one of eight official starting points for the Monte Carlo Rally.
Graven Images are interior designers on the project, delivered for Peter Taylor’s Townhouse Collection.
The new hotel has 100 guest rooms, a luxury spa, a fine-dining restaurant and fully refurbished Salon and Rally Bars. The Monte Carlo Suite provides conference facilities.
We have designed all of the guest rooms and front-of-house spaces including a brand new range of bespoke furniture, lampshades and light fittings. The bathrooms are lined in book-matched marble.
We have also specified a wide range of Harris Tweed throughout including some patterns that haven’t been used in 60 years.
Design Director Jim Hamilton: “We have worked so much around the world in recent years, it was great to have an opportunity to create something so important in our own city. There are wonderful stories associated with this listed building and we have tried to keep a sense of that history, but always looking towards the future.”
