GI commissioned interior designers on Arne Jacobsen's Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Copehnagen
3.08.09
We have been commissioned as interior designers on the ground and first floor public spaces of Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
The building has an incredible history and pushed boundaries as soon as it was constructed; it was the first skyscraper in Copenhagen and the largest hotel in Denmark at that time, and was arguably the most important project for Jacobsen. The pieces he created for the hotel, such as the Swan and Egg chairs, are still specified worldwide to this day.
Our design approach will recreate some of the original glamour and cool sophistication associated with the hotel in the sixties.
Even today, people travel from far and wide to appreciate Jacobsen’s landmark hotel. It attracts real interest from the design community, as well as hotel aficionados and we are thrilled to be working on such a important and interesting project.
The new hotel will be glamourous, stylish, contemporary, timeless, and with outstanding comfort to attract a wide variety of clientele from Stockholm’s finest world-wide travellers and in-house guests. As well as creating glamour, we will ensure that the new hotel is accessible to a wider audience to appreciate what is without doubt, Jacobsen’s greatest living
legacy.
