Graven Images and Big Noise

24.08.10

Sistema Scotland is a Scottish Charity, who run “Big Noise”, an orchestra for children in Raploch, Stirling. Big Noise has just concluded its second year, and the programme is celebrating much success, with 240 children involved (80% of the eligible age group).

The orchestra uses a method of schooling founded by Maestro Abreu in Venezuela 30 years ago, which
teaches children and young people using orchestral music tuition. Through this, children not only learn to play instruments, but also about citizenship and co-operation.

The Big Noise orchestra, like those in Venezuela, acts as an engine for social change in Raploch and uses music as a tool to transform the lives of the children and their community. The orchestra has benefited from a mass of support, including violinist Nicola Benedetti – officially the Big Noise’s Big Sister.

We have given our support by donating our time to design and fit out their HQ in Stirling.
