The Gulf Gets its Stripes

Fashionistas will flock to Missoni’s second hotel when it opens in Kuwait (celebrating the 20th anniversary of its liberation this year) tomorrow. The family-run fashion house launched its first hotel in Edinburgh in 2009 and the outpost in Kuwait City will have interiors designed by the same Glaswegian architects firm, Graven Images.

Rosita Missoni’s creative vision informs the design specifics including furniture by Eero Saarinen, Marcel Wanders and Arne Jacobsen, and features the fashion line’s distinctive zig-zags and stripes throughout, with bursts of bright colours.

Off curved corridors lie 169 rooms including 63 suites with views over the Gulf, fitted out with iPads and Bang & Olufsen TVs. Not forgetting the Six Senses Spa, fitness room, outdoor swimming pool, three restaurants and airport transfers in Maseratis. Three more Missoni hotels will be rolled out in Oman, Brazil and Turkey over the next two years.
